Senior counsel Carolyn Wheeler was recently quoted in the Law360 article, “Religious Exception To Bias Law May Go Back To High Court.”
Since last year’s Supreme Court ruling in Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrissey-Berru, which took a broad view of the ministerial exception to employment discrimination claims, federal judges have continued to expand the limits of the decision. As a result, some experts are worried that judges might be stretching the Supreme Court’s stance too far.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the breadth of what the courts are doing with the religious exception,” Ms. Wheeler said.
