Katz, Marshall & Banks partner Debra Katz spoke at the second annual Women in Law Lecture, hosted by the Roger Williams University School of Law. The fireside chat series serves as an opportunity for law students to hear from established women attorneys about their career challenges and experiences.
Ms. Katz spoke with RWU law professor Emily J. Sack about what inspired her to represent Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, and how she prepared Dr. Ford and herself for such a unique and difficult ordeal.
She also spoke more generally about her motivations and philosophy as it pertains to the purpose of the law, and the long-term impact of the #MeToo movement on how society views sexual harassment. Finally, she gave advice to aspiring attorneys who are interested in pursuing a civil rights career, and spoke about her hopes for the next generation of women attorneys.
