In the aftermath of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding Bill Cosby, whose sexual assault conviction was considered a watershed moment in the #MeToo movement, there is worry that the ruling will have a chilling effect on survivors who are already reluctant to come forward. But activists are quick to point out that the issue at hand in Cosby’s case is rather unique and should not act as a deterrent to survivors of sexual assault.
“The message has to be very clear and simple, this was a mistake by prosecutors, a very unusual one and a technicality that is unlikely to happen again,” said Ms. Banks.
