In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Congress recently passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act aimed at providing much needed support to people and businesses during this health crisis. Mr. Filoromo and Ms. Westerman break down how these two laws could benefit employees in the pharmaceutical industry who need paid time off of work or financial assistance.
Additionally, the CARES Act sets aside about $150 billion for the healthcare industry to develop vaccines and other medicine and equipment to combat the virus. With this incredible amount of money flowing into the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, the authors discuss the renewed importance of the False Claims Act (FCA), and protections for whistleblowers who report fraud or abuse.
